NOTE:
The word fiance (a male engaged to be married) and fiancee (a female engaged to be married) are both from French. In French they both carry an accent, but in English they do not. The words used to have an accent in English too, but since modern keyboards do not easily allow for accents, the accented spelling has been dropped.
Lastly, if you have a hard time remembering which is male and which is female, it might help to think of this. Females have an extra X chromosome and also an extra e on the end of the word fiancee.
