The verb tener (to have) is conjugated in the present tense as follows:

Tener is used exactly like the verb to have in English, to express possession or property.
Yo tengo una pluma nueva.

Note that the verb tener (to have) has various idiomatic uses in Spanish:
(a) It is used with certain nouns to indicate physical or mental condition.
Yo tengo hambre.
I am hungry.
Él tiene frío.
He is cold.
Other phrases with tener, similarly used, are:
tener calor - (to be warm or hot)
tener sed - (to be thirsty)
tener miedo - (to be afraid)
tener sueño - (to be sleepy)
tener razón - (to be right)
(b) Tener is also used in Spanish to express age.
Él tiene diez años.
He is ten years old.
La catedral tiene 100 años.
The cathedral is 100 years old.

When, however, deber is used as an auxiliary verb, it has the meaning of must or have to.
