Spanish Grammar: Months of the Year
Unlike English, the months of the year (los meses del año) are not capitalized except at the beginning of a sentence. The names of the months are masculine in gender but they do not require the definite article.

NOTES ON DAYS OF THE MONTH
The cardinal numbers (one, two, three, four, etc.) are used with the dates (fechas) of the month except with the first day of the month. The first day of the month is represented by the ordinal number primero. Note also that primero is shortened to primer when it precedes día (day). The definite article el is used before the numeral and de before the name of the month.

The twelfth of October is a holiday.
El sábado es el primero de mayo.
Saturday is the first of May.
Nací el tres de mayo.
I was born the third of May.
El cinco de mayo es día de fiesta en México.
The fifth of May is a holiday in Mexico.
Falta poco para diciembre.
It's nearly December.
Julio tiene treinta y un días.
There are 31 days in July.
Su nuevo libro saldrá en diciembre.
Her new book is due out in December.
It ends in September.
Termina en septiembre.

To answer a date question, use the following formula.
el (day) + de (month) + de (year)
