Spanish Grammar: Days of the Week
Unlike English, the days of the week in Spanish are not capitalized unless at the beginning of a sentence. This is of course the opposite of English. Another difference is that the Spanish week begins with el lunes (Monday) rather than el domingo (Sunday).
Hoy es lunes.
Today is Monday.
Es martes el dos de mayo.
It is Tuesday the second of May.
| el lunes | Monday |
| el martes | Tuesday |
| el miércoles | Wednesday |
| el jueves | Thursday |
| el viernes | Friday |
| el sábado | Saturday |
| el domingo | Sunday |
